Home Tour: Christmas Décor 2014

Hi Everyone, it’s that time of year again. Time for long shopping lines, finding new ways to hide presents and for infusing holiday cheer into our homes. It’s often times hard to figure out what to do year after  year when it comes to decorating for the holidays. With the influx of images on social media, we often times become overwhelmed with what to do. Always trying to figure out “what’s my stye”? I’m hoping with our Christmas home tour you will find a bit of inspiration. Now we may not have the grandest home on the block, but our little rustic chic decorated home is all us and it fits our lifestyle and our personalities. We embrace the rustic life….after all living a rustic life is all about comfortable living and that’s what we enjoy the most.

The feel we were going for with our theme this year was Rustic Woodland. We wanted to infuse elements that would be found out in nature in the woods. With that in mind, combined with the sparkle of glitter, you will find little woodland animals, natural textures and natural fibers all beautifully entwined in our living space.  We think it all came out rather beautifully, so we hope you enjoy the tour.

wholehome

mantle

Right above the chair and a half sits our shelf mantle. It usually has lots of family pics on there, but pictures found a new home for a little bit. The 2 stars you see on the mantle are both from Pier 1 and the red Merry Christmas sign is from HomeGoods.

treepillow

The silver Christmas tree and silver foil damask pillows are both from HomeGoods.

whitelantern

Inside the white lantern you will find white stone rocks and beautifully scented candles that fill the air with the scent of cinnamon.

squirrel

OK this little guy… he just had to come home with us once we spotted him at Pier 1 Imports.

menorah

With us being both Jewish and Christians, we celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas. This year we needed a new menorah and we found this beautiful crystal encrusted menorah at Hobby Lobby. The blue ombré candles were found at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

decor

console

Right in front of the seating is our TV console. We had a great time deciding what would go where. We love how the print from Craftberry Bush really brought the decorating of the console together.

owl

stockings

We currently don’t have a fireplace, so a creative way we found to hang the stockings were to simply hang them on nails and embellish the tops of each stockings with ribbon. Simple and easy. The faux fur topped and chenille stocking is from Pottery Barn and the ivory  burlap one is from HomeGoods.

candels2

Simple candles got a makeover by simply using glue dots to adhere the ribbon to them, so they are easily removed after the holiday season.

centerpiece

The silver and gold frosted candle centerpiece was a great find at home goods. We only added a few red holiday berries to make it more festive. The candles were purchased separately. Look there at that table runner. Look familiar? If you follow us on instagram @therusticlife you will see it wrapped around Sandra’s neck in a cute little selfie. Yes, it’s a scarf bought this year at Target.  Now who made the rules that a scarf can’t play double duty as a darling table runner.

diner

Our simple diner sign in the dinning area got in the spirit with a greenery and pine cone swag placed right above it.

ornaments

Both these ornaments were found at Pier 1.

fulltree

As a family we are so proud and happy with how our tree came out. It’s a rustic with so many touches, such as swarvoski crystal and mercury glass that make it oh so rustic chic at the same time.  The burlap and holiday branch pic helped to fill spaces and allowed the tree to have more character and texture. We couldn’t be happier with how everything came out.
