Hi Loves…we know…we have been bad bloggers…it's OK…shake your fingers at us. It's been so crazy. We moved in together at the end of September and let's just say a bachelor pad clearly had to be updated to make it feel just right. We are enjoying the journey so far as we have taken on remodeling and DIY projects little by little. Between planning our wedding, getting the girls into new routines and balancing our careers, it's been a challenge. We didn't set out initially for The Rustic Life to be a daily blog, but we do have a goal of getting it to be just that. We are happy to share our dining room today. It's been hard adjusting. I (Sandra) downsized from a 3,000 square foot home when I moved in with Jonathan, so I had to get use to decorating for a smaller space. Our home we currently share together is smaller, but I think we have done a good job working at having the open space flow together. Our home really feels like a little rustic chic hideaway. It's special. It's beautiful and it's home.
Can we just say how much we LOVE and we mean LOVE our Emmerson reclaimed wood dining table from West Elm We knew we needed a new dining table and we weren't going to settle. We were able to get a good deal on the table because we got it when it was on sale AND we were able to combine it with the new movers coupon we got from West Elm in the relocation packet from the USPS. If you have ever changed addresses, you know exactly the packet of coupons we are referring too.
The mason jar chandelier we got from Lowes and is made by Allen + Roth. The finish we chose was a bronzed look but they also have it in a beautiful silver finish.
The star on the wall came from a flea market in Connecticut and the sign came from one of our favorite home stores, HomeGoods.

See the rustic cornice board up there? Well, we made that. I (Jonathan) cut the pieces from wood we got at Home Depot and I (Sandra) stained and banged up the wood with several tools from the toolbox. We are going to be sharing the easy DIY for the project very soon. The curtains are from Bed Bath & Beyond and are made by Kenneth Cole. The weight of the curtains aren't very heavy and look way more expensive than they really are. Who doesn't love that?! Floral arrangement made by me (Sandra) π the crossback chairs are from our old table and were purchased at Restoration Hardware.
Loved this tufted charcoal dining chair the minute we saw it. Again the price was right so we had to get it. We got 2 of them. One for each end of the table. We purchased them from Target.
Β The few things to note about our beautiful table is that it has various tones, textures and flat surfaces because of the reclaimed wood. Each piece is unique and we love it just that way.
LOVE LOVE LOVE your dining room! I need that table and chandelier in my life. Can’t wait to see the DIY on the rustic cornice board.
Thank you sweetie! It came out really nice. Wish I had more space, but love what we did with the space. DIY coming up soon!
I am currently looking into purchasing this table myself, and I’m wondering what finish yours is? It looks darker than the pine version on the website, but lighter than the darker option they have listed. I love whatever finish yours is! Thanks!
Hi Rachel,
This table finish is called Reclaimed Pine. It’s all about lighting unfortunately when it comes to photos, but if you don’t want the darker version, you should pick our finish, the reclaimed pine. Let me know what you decide. We are on instagram @therusticlife if you want to share a pic with us.
Happy New Year!
XO
THANKS FOR POSTING YOUR LOVELY DINING ROOM! MY IN-LAWS JUST BOUGHT US THIS TABLE FOR A WEDDING PRESENT. I LOVE THE CHAIRS YOU HAVE WITH IT – THE WOOD ONES. WHAT KIND ARE THEY?
Hi Kari,
Love this table. We have a new one as well, but this one is just so beautiful! You will enjoy it for years to come. The wood chairs are from Restoration Hardware. π
that window cornice is just the thing that i have been looking for on my first floor windows! I built a floating fireplace mantel for our living room and would like to have the window treatment to match.
can’t wait to see the tutorial, Have you posted it yet?
I REALLY LOVE YOUR STYLING IN THIS ROOM. It’s got a kind of “rustic Glam” thing going on. π
Hi Bridget! Thank you for your kind words…yes Rustic Glam is a pretty good way to describe the space. π We are actually doing a tutorial soon so will share for sure. Make sure to follow me on instagram @therusticlife to know when tutorial is posted.
Hi! I love your dining room setup!! I just bought the Emmerson table today and needless to say I am very excited!! Your restoration hardware chairs match the set so nicely! Do you happen to know which stain it is? weathered oak drifted?
Hi Lauren,
Thank you so much!
Yes, the chairs are indeed the weathered Oak. You are gonna love the table. It’s so beautiful!
Thank you So much! love love love your blog!
Ha! we have similar tastes. Love what you did here!! Check out my dining room tour if you can: https://thefarmedhouse.wordpress.com/take-a-tour-inside-my-home/eat-drink-and-be-merry/
Thank you for posting this! I just bought the table too and have been struggling over what chairs to pair with it. Love the restoration hardward ones and they are on sale right now π Love your decorating.
You are so welcome Jen, it’s a great look. Make sure to seal it some how with a clear wax or matte shellac or something (test in a small area) I have to resend and seal mine as it stained in several spots from foodfalling on the table.
Oh yeah, I wondered about that. Also, how big is the table in the photograph? Wondering if I can fit two of the size chairs comfortably pushed in.
Hi Jen, not sure what you mean. I bought this from Joss and Main. You said you had the table??? so it’s like 72″ I think
Oh sorry, I’m talking about the Emerson table from West Elm. It comes in a few sizes, I got the 72″. I love both tables though. Thanks!
Ohhhh I thought you were talking about my new table, we have the 72 inch one. Hope that helps. 2 of the side chairs fit very easily in there.
