Mantel Refresh

Happy Monday loves, I’m off to Charleston this morning for a few days and I can’t wait to soak it all up because hello, this here girl is ready for Spring! Looking forward to sharing about that trip soon.

Today, I’m sharing my updated mantel décor. If you follow me on Instagram, and watch my stories, you would have seen a box in the living room that seemed like forever to open. Well my new mirror from Anthropologie is what was in that box. I’ve had my eye on it for about 2 years and I finally just decided it was time to get it. I’m so in love with loves! It’s legit everything I thought it would be and it added that beautiful, simple French touch to the dining room that I was looking for.

I got the smallest size (3 feet) and it fit perfectly, so be sure to measure the space before choosing your size. You want to have enough room at the top and the bottom of the mirror for it to float nicely on the wall.

When choosing a mirror for a space here are some simple tips:

  1. Measure and remeasure.  There is nothing worse than lugging a heavy mirror into your home and finding out that it’s to big or to small.
  2. Add something different to the space. What I mean by that is that if you have a home with a mostly wood and white interior, try adding in a metallic like I did here in the form of gold gilding on the wall. Another example is, say you have a dark space, look for a mirror that is wood or white, again to add something different
  3. Try a new shape. Often times people fill a room with mostly square or rectangle pieces when adding a mirror that is round or one that doesn’t have hard edges makes for visual interest and variety in the space.

To finish off the mantel I added some dried florals for texture and a simple piece of pottery. Loving how the dining room feels with this new addition.
