In The Kitchen: Favorite Cookbooks

ROUNDUP OF MY FAVORITE COOKBOOKS

Hi loves, if you are like me and you love food and you adore making meals for your family/friends then this post is for you. I was cleaning the kitchen recently and was inspired to share with you some of my favorite cookbooks that I refer too most often when looking for something new to cook. We all have our favorite recipes passed down to us, but as ingredients have become more exotic and food combinations more flavorful, referring to a cookbook for inspiration could be just want you need to bring some excitement back to dinnertime. So lets get to this roundup of my favorite cookbooks that I’ve gown to love and depend on.

favorite cookbooks

THE BIG BOOK OF JUICES: Alright, I know that a juice book doesn’t technically mean that you are “cooking” but you are in the kitchen, so that sort of counts. πŸ™‚ Anyways this is my go to book for all things healthy. It not only has simple and tasty juice recipes, each juice recipe says what it might benefit i.e. the immune system, the skin etc…bonus thing about this book are the smoothie recipes. You can see just how many pages are tagged that I love πŸ™‚ BUY IT HERE

BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS-NEW COOKBOOK:Β This cook book is timeless. Mine is a vintage copy and was a gift to me from my daughter. I’m sure she is looking forward to the day it is hers. They are always coming out with updated versions however. I use it for lots of basics like sauces, cinnamon raisin bars, casseroles etc. BUY IT HERE

VINTAGE CAKES: OK, if you love baking like I do, then this book is a must have. I learned about it a few years ago and was drawn to it because of how pretty the cover was and lets face it, I LOVE most anything vintage. Well, to my surprise the cake recipes I’ve made so far are now staples for me when I entertain. The carrot cake recipe on page 94 and the champagne cake recipe on page 125 are AMAZING! BUY IT HERE

THE EVERYTHING TAPAS AND SMALL PLATES COOKBOOK: Tapas are all the rage right now in many restaurants, so why not make them at home. This book has tons and tons of tapas ideas that will have your tastebuds dancing. From shrimp croquettes to pork potstickers to chorizo empanadas, these recipes are just the right size for any party! GREAT AMERICAN BRAND NAME COOKBOOK: I don’t know how I came across this book, but I’m glad I did. The recipes incorporate many of the brands we all grew up on including Duncan Hines, Lipton and Wyler’s to name a few. You can certainly use whatever brand you want when cooking the recipes, but I try to stay true to the nostalgia of the brands mentioned in the recipe when I make my favorites. Two of my all time and most loved recipes from the book are the Chuckwagon Roast and Vegetables (think pot roast that ISN’T dry…REPEAT… NEVER dry) on page 145. None is EVER EVER EVER leftover either. Also, the Versatile Chicken on page 207 (like fry chicken except it’s baked) is sooo amazingly tender and juicy from the chicken being soaked in buttermilk. Truly delicious and will be loved by your family, as it is by mine. BUY IT HERE

So there you have it. Some of my favorite cookbooks that keep the ones I love happy and the food stuck to their bones.
