Inspiration for My Formal Living Room Makeover

The time has come to finally tackle the designing of our formal living room. It’s been a long time coming and I’m happy once again to be partnering with Raymour and Flanigan for this effort. When thinking of this room, I at first was going to keep it casual just like in the family room. Initially I thought, you know this is a farmhouse built in the 1800s so why does it have to be formal. Then one night, I had a thought that maybe a room could be formal and yet comfortable in how it looked and felt. When I design a room, I want it to have  a feeling. Oh my does that sound weird? What I mean is that when you walk into a space, it should tell story. The room should make you feel a certain way. Call me weird but it works for me.

At first I picked out a more relaxed sofa from Raymour and Flanigan called the Tatiana. I told my contact at Raymour and Flanigan that this was my choice…and then that night happened…the vision became more clearer and I knew I needed to make an inspiration board to pull my thoughts together. I am a big fan of inspiration boards. They are good for many purposes that include: keeping you on budget, keeping your vision clear and to help design the mood of the room. I’m almost done with the space and I can’t wait to share it with you all next week.
