Table Talk: Fall Harvest

Hi loves, today I’m happy to inspire you all with a tablescape that combines the trendy fall pattern (plaid) and harvesting season…flowers and the use of pomegranates. Although pomegranates aren’t predominantly featured in my tablescape design, I do love them and relish in the fact that they are coming into season. I’ll be sure to share some type of recipe using them, so keep an eye out for that. I’ll be sharing tips on tablescaping in this post as many of you, that follow me on Instagram, seem to struggle with exactly what IS a tablescape and how to pull one off.

Fundamentally a tablescape is simple…it’s putting together housewares that you would use while serving up a meal in an appealing and inviting way. A tablescape sets the tone for the event, dinner or party that you will be having guests at. A tablescape can be either casual or formal depending on the occasion everyone is gathering for. I tend to do casual tablescapes, but do share more formal ones on Instagram as well. Again, this tablescape I designed is inspired by fall, the trendy fall pattern plaid and the harvesting of fruits and vegetables this time of year.

I’m a flower girl through and through and most tablescapes I design will have them at the center. Flowers are beautiful, add texture and say “welcome” without saying a word. I wanted to use pops of gold as it’s a prominent color you will find throughout the season from corn, to sunflowers to the leaves falling off the tree.

Plaid is all the rage this fall/winter season. It’s a timeless and classic pattern that will forever be in style. I love these napkins from Tommy Hilfiger that I found at HomeGoods. Napkins come in so many fun patterns and textures. Don’t be afraid to take an otherwise bland place setting to something more chic by choosing a napkin with a beautiful pattern or texture to it. Again, being a fan of texture I chose to use these wicker placemats I got from Decor Steals. They are useful for any season as they go with most anything. Hence the reason I had to get them. Placemats and plate chargers provide for a focal point and anchor for your plates. They come in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes, so pick ones that speak to you and fit the occasion.

Add visual appeal to your tablescape. Give people something to make them feel like you took something special out of your cabinet just for them. These gorgeous pewter handle serving spoons were found at Pier1 and the gold pewter serving bowl with the pomegranates is from HomeGoods.

Use layers. They add visual appeal. I love how this inexpensive amber colored pedestal cake plate lifts the flowers to be enjoyed at a better view. Found it at Michaels and the copper pitcher was found at Pier 1.
