Thanksgiving Tablescape 2015

In just one week we will all be gathered around a table somewhere, with family/friends, enjoying a meal that has been made with love. I’ve stepped outside the box when designing a tablescape to inspire you for Thanksgiving. Traditionally, deeper richer tones/colors would have been used such as orange, burgundy and gold, but I wanted to challenge myself to be different. Inspired by a set of blue napkins I saw at Target and blue thistle flowers from the flower market, the color palette of brown, blue and ivory makes for a pretty and inviting place to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner.

centerpiece

I made the centerpiece in a old rustic wood box that I own. I lined it with pieces of a trash bag and put soft floral foam inside. I filled the box with hydrangea, blue thistle, and mini cabbages. All these should be readily available this time of year at your local floral shop or grocery store. (I prefer Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods for flowers if I can’t make it to my floral market) I added fall accents around the center pice like white pumpkins, pinecones, faux chestnuts and pears. The pears I got from Home Goods and the chestnuts came in a mix of dried items from Pier 1.

napkin

I thought it would be nice to create a utensil pouch. I found the little craft bags, tags and ribbon at Michaels. The blue napkins are from Target.

pinecones

Fill a bowl with something seasonal to add texture and visual appeal. Think pinecones, faux mini pumpkins (you could always paint them) and even real or faux fruit. The gold pewter bowl I found at Home Goods The rustic pumpkin I found at Joanns
