HOTEL REVIEW: HOTEL VIKING – NEWPORT, RI

Hi loves, the week is chugging along and I can’t believe the weekend is almost here. Seems like Autumn is just slipping through our fingers with every leaf drop. With a few more weeks left to enjoy the outdoors here in New England, I’m recapping my recent Nearcation at the Hotel Viking in Newport, RI I took last weekend.

Now we have stayed at a few other hotels in the quaint coastal town of Newport, but never at this property. With us all worried about Covid and traveling, it was really nice to see how the staff followed health guidelines to ensure the safety of their guests. From pens that were sanitized at checkin to the limit of close contact with other guests in the elevator (only 2 allowed at at time). I felt assured safety first was a priority.

The hotel boasts all that you would need for a local getaway, from comfortable hotel beds (and robes), to premium bathroom amenities, an on site coffee shop, hip and stylish bar, full service restaurant and hellooo even a luxurios spa, Spa Fjor. Seriously, this hotel gave no reason and all the pause as to “why leave”. But if you are interested in exploring the local area, Hotel Viking is located on Bellevue Avenue which is in walking distance to small shops and restaraunts and just minutes away mansion tours and walks along the coastline.

If you’re someone that’s concerned about being around others in common areas, no worries. There are beautiful and inviting seating areas scattered both in and outside the hotel for you to enjoy. The decor is refined and luxurious, with attention to detail at every corner.

Hotel Viking is a special gem here in New England and if you’ve never been, don’t want to hop an airplane right now, or just need somewhere to escape to with all going on right now, this should be on your list! Note that they have a discount for all neighboring New England states (the New England Neighbor rate), so be sure to ask for it so you can get 20% off their best available rates.
