How To Make Wellness a Priority in 2020

Wellness. When you think about wellness, what comes to your mind? A positive happy, healthy life? Weight loss?

Wellness is the state of being in good health, especially as an actively pursued goal. It does not just have to be about weight loss but also your mental wellness.

Your metal health is a huge part of your every day life, the way you live, the way you think, feel and behave in your daily life. Your mental health affects everything around you, whether we like it or not. I’m talking abilities, if you are not in the correct mindset and mental place, your mental health is going to screw with your ability to cope with stress, challenges, relationships, set backs and hardships. Let’s get you mentally and emotionally available. To start your journey on getting your head and mental health together, start by valuing yourself. Know that you are worth something, you have a purpose. Sharing some tips below on how to level up your wellness goals in 2020.

TREAT YOUR BODY GOOD

Take care of your body, eat the right foods, get your veggies and fruits in, drink that water. Changing a few things in your diet alone, will make you feel different in your own body. You’ll feel more awake and energized.

BE SELFISH

Surround yourself with good people. No one likes a Debby downer, so why are we hanging out with them? You do not need to keep them to the curb completely, but stray away. It is time for a positive life, and you are not here to pick up the pieces for everyone around you. It is time to be selfish, this is for you.

Speaking of things for you, take a break, for yourself. Treat yourself to something you have always wanted to do, something that makes you happy. Take a break from what may be bothering you, and take a breath.

Learn how to deal with stress, take this time to also learn about yourself, what bothers you? What triggers you? What can you do to change your attitude towards whatever that may be?

BE A GOAL GETTER

Set goals, there is nothing better than setting a goal and finally achieving it, knowing you did it no matter how long it took you. Make sure the goals you set are realistic, and strive to achieve them.

Get help when you need it, often times we are too prideful to ask for help, just ask. Nine out of ten times you ask for help, it takes all the stress off of yourself, and still accomplish the task at hand.

DON’T FORGET THESE KEY THINGS:

Value yourself

Take care of your body

Surround yourself with good people

Take a break, for yourself

Learn how you deal with stress

Set goals, realistic ones.

Get help when you need it

Being mentally healthy does not mean your life is going to be perfect, it does not mean you won’t stress some things, go through hard times, or face challenges, but having control of your mental state, will certainly help all of that and make it a heck of a lot easier to cope with whereas if you were not in a good place.

Weight loss does not need to be in your journey, but for those who have it on your wellness journey, it is important to know it is not as easy as it sounds and takes time and effort. While being healthy and physically fit is important for the wellbeing of your life, your mental health should come first. I cannot stress enough that you need to be in the right mindset to lose weight. When you are in the right mindset, everything else will fall into its place.

I’ve commented to get in shape in 2020. I tell myself I sound like a broken record. My struggle with weight has been real and even with trying Weight Watchers late last year, I still felt I couldn’t stay on track (I mainly think it’s because I had so much going on in life and we were getting into the holiday season when most people don’t even think about weight loss.

I’ve been loving the app Lose It as of late. I’ve only just started it but I LOVE the calorie counting vs. point keeping system and it’s so intuitive and you get both a visual graph and log of your calorie breakdown based on the foods and exercises you log into the app. The best party is it’s under $40 for the whole year! I think you will love it as much as I do.
