My Boho Farmhouse Living Room Update

how to transition decorating style on a budget

For the past few years I’ve been living and enjoying my home decorated in a modern french farmhouse style. Nothing wrong with that as it’s a decor style that speaks to my heart. Growing up in a home where plants were prevalent, I started to miss them in my own home. Once I picked up one, then two and well, let’s just say I have a bunch now, I started to enjoy the pops of color in my home.

With that said, I started to look at ways in which I could continue adding color to my current decor as a total redo with new furnishing wasn’t an option. When it came down to it, I achieved the boho farmhouse refresh by switching up decor items that wouldn’t break the bank but would make an impact. I made small changes like swapping out the rug, pillows/throws, doing a DIY shelf project that cost less than $25 (I’ll share this post soon) designing my own graphic wall art and shopping my home by moving things around. These are easy ways to refresh a space know matter what style you are transitioning too.

The rug I replaced the old one with was the starting point for the soft color scheme in the room and I found it on Well Woven (its the Maxwell Vintage Modern Blue). I immediately fell in love with the soft blue jewel tone in it, but upon arrival it was the plush thick feeling of the rug under my feet that has me walking barefoot vs. in my slippers more often than not now in my home. From April 23-May 11th use discount code SANDRA 15 for 15% off any purchase of $75 or more. The fibre wall art will be available in my online shop, CLOAK + LINEN (launching soon) and will come in various colors. They are handmade and no two are alike which makes them that much special.

The wood tray I’ve had in my home for a few years now. I also had the beautiful mercury glass storage box for about 4 years now too. It was in the bedroom and not being used. To bring in some brass tones and texture into the space, I thought it was better suited to sit on the coffee table. Again shopping your own home is a quick and easy way to refresh a space. The vase is from World Market, also a few years old. The dried pods in the vase I found at a cute home boutique in Brooklyn.

My favorite cozy corner also got refreshed. I had the rustic old pie box in a closet in the guest room and it turned out to be the perfect size to house my fiddle leaf plant. The wall art was free, as the succulent photo which I took and the  the rug sign are prints from my new online shop (Cloak + Linen) launching soon. The pillows added a little texture and fun to the corner. Decorating a space with a boho vibe really allows you to be a bit more eclectic with the pieces you use in the space. I have been in love with this marble top table the moment I set eyes on it and knew that it would be the perfect compliment to add texture and a Scandinavian inspired touch to the room. I am simply in love with the new feel of my home and I hope you have found some inspiration in it all.

Thank you so much! That is a mouthful isn’t it. But I think it can definitely be summed up into eclectic. 🙂
