Why I’ve Been Leaning Towards A Slower Approach To Living Life

If there is anything that life has taught me from this Covid pandemic, it’s that life isn’t guaranteed. I’m always feeling blessed when I rise every morning, but I feel even more now. Life these past few months, especially with our move here to the countryside has really taught me that the fast past life we lead as a society isn’t necessarily the best for our physical and mental health, the planet and our loved ones.

For generations we have been taught that faster is OK. But at what cost? We have fast food, fast fashion and fast cars and where is that getting us? Can we do better as a society? Yes we can. I hate worms, but I’m willing to give gardening a try to help make healthier meals for my family. I love “being in style” but who says style has to come at a cost to our planet? Did you know that fast fashion impacts the environment by depleting non-renewable sources, putting out emission of greenhouse gases and the use of massive amounts of water and energy. Yes, its not good.

I have a way to go in cleaning up my lifestyle and embracing a slower, more conscious living (albeit with style lol) but I’m on my way. When we moved to our new home, I got rid of a large percent of my clothes, as I work to revamp and incorporate more conscious brands into my capsule wardrobe.  It will take time, but I’m so happy to feel a sense of calm and peace out here in the country.

I’m at a point in my life that I want to slow down. Having hypothyroidism (hypo thyroid disease) is very exhausting and physically taxing on me (sheer exhaustion is a side effect of this) and I’ve just got to learn to slow down and enjoy the moments life offers me everyday. Enjoy the time I have here on earth. Make impactful positive changes to society in the small ways that I can and to just be free from the hustle and bustle of what has been our norm for all these years.
